The D1 was back this weekend in Sarcelles with the autumn round. Two days of high level competition after two years without playing any official game for the teams involved. We’ll tell you how it ended for the women’s D1 !

Did they even flinch ? The defending champions have shown an impression of serenity throughout the competition. Never worried or almost, the players from Pontoise won all their matches with at least two goals difference. Juliette Macquet scored countless goals on the counter-attack and on the cross-attacks led by her teammates. A first place which does not suffer any contest.

Rennes finally confirmed the hopes placed in them by obtaining their best result in the first division with a second place. Beaten only by the CHSPC players but the only team to have managed to concede less than six goals against the defending champions, Maud Ginsbourger and her teammates have shown a great regularity in their performance with Perrine Meunier who was outstanding on the wing.

Le Chesnay kept its place on the podium after a crazy final against HOPE which pushed the players coached by Max Habesztrau to their limit. The wide defeats, both on the score of 6-1, against Rennes and Pontoise during the Round Robin will be one of the bad points of this competition for Le Chesnay. A third place quite logical even if Alison Touchain and her partners stuggled during the small final against HOPE (4-3).

HOPE and Hyères went toe to toe throughout the competition. It is the Parisians who took the best during their confrontation in the Round Robin at the end of a tight match concluded on the score of 5-3 to the advantage of HOPE, stronger at the impact. A nice fourth place for Jean Gatignol’s players. For their part, Hyères can have some regrets because, if the players coached by Thomas de Trébons proposed a beautiful open game based on wing changes and fast swimming, they were unable to respond to the pressure put on them by more physical teams such as Pontoise, Rennes and Le Chesnay.

The Fontenay falling

At the bottom of the ranking we find, without surprise, Moirans and Pessac but the team which finishes at the last place of this round 1 of D1 came from Ile-de-France. Fourth in the last round two years ago, the Fontenay players totally collapsed by not winning any game during the whole weekend. There is no doubt that their expectations are high and that they will do anything to get back in Division 1 as fast as possible.

This surprising eighth place benefited the young team of Moirans which will stay in D1 by finishing sixth. A promising team that still has to work mentally to avoid temporary exclusions often caused by a little too much energy.
Despite this, the aim has been reached for Zoé Maurici and her teammates who will be back in the summer round !

This will not be the case for Pessac which will go with Fontenay in the second division. The Girondines lost 4-0 against Moirans in the decisive match to stay in D1. Two teams with similar characteristics and an impact game. Unfortunately for Pessac, Moirans was stronger.

The final ranking

  1. Pontoise

  3. Le Chesnay
  4. HOPE
  5. Hyères
