According to our information, Max Habesztrau will no longer be coach of the French women’s U24 team. He recently won a gold medal at the underwater field hockey world championships, co-selecting the French women’s master team with Rémy Honoré in Gold Coast, Australia.
Thomas Berland, who was his assistant as coach, is expected to succeed him, either alone or accompanied, as yet. The pair won the silver medal at the 2019 U24 World Championships in Sheffield after a historic final against New Zealand.
Habesztrau, who is also coach of the Chesnay women’s club, has reportedly been asked to stop the adventure by the highest authorities of the national federation. This decision is supported by a letter which, according to our information, was sent to the FFESSM by the U24 players, complaining of a lack of investment on the part of the French coach.
Barring a major turnaround in the situation, it would appear that the official decision is only a matter of weeks away.
