Scheduled from July 25 to August 5, 2022, the World Cup still raises a number of questions. How many teams have already registered, what conditions does CMAS want for the competition to take place ? We spoke with João José, director of the CMAS Hockey Commission about these subjects.
The pre-registrations closed since January 28, it is time for the first overview of this particular competition scheduled in Istanbul this summer. For the moment, 29 teams from ten different countries have registered, all categories included.
Elite M : South Africa, Great Britain, Spain, France, Colombia, USA, Argentina, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey
Elite F : South Africa, Great Britain, Spain, France, Colombia, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey
Masters M : South Africa, France, Colombia, Turkey
Masters F : Colombia
U24 M : France, Great Britain
U24 W : France, Great Britain
U19 M : Great Britain
U19 W : Great Britain
The event being part of the category B of the CMAS regulations, no number of teams is required for the competition. However, João José is considering a minimum number of participants. « We assume that we need a podium, so three teams is probably the minimum to have an event. Four to make the semi-finals and finals.«
« We will force a meeting with all national federations in March. »
Three teams minimum, which the Masters F categories and all the Youth categories do not have yet. The first deadline is over, the second is scheduled for March 31, 2022. A little more than a month to expect to fill the gaps. « We will impose a meeting with all national federations in March« . announced João José
As this date, only three of the eight categories planned could take place. See you at the beginning of April for an update that should look like the final one.
