Nicolas Legeay and Olivier Flandrin were officially named this weekend as the new coaches of the French Elite Men’s team. They gave us an interview to share their reaction and their goals at the head of the selection.

The captains’ meeting during the D1 confirmed the news. Nicolas Legeay and Olivier Flandrin are the new coaches of the French Elite men’s team. A big challenge for the two men. « I had never thought of coaching the Elites« , says Olivier Flandrin. The former U24 M coach was contacted by Nicolas Legeay to form a partnership at the beginning of September, when Cédric Rollin announced his departure. « Olivier’s expertise with the U24s is more than welcome, » said Nicolas Legeay. « I know the 3-4 generations who have played for the U24s and Nicolas knows the older generation very well as he has played with them » adds Olivier Flandrin.

If it is still a bit early to talk about a game plan, the first objective of the two men is to find a pool to make an « open » training camp and start to make the players play and work together. « We want to create a France group and work closely with the U24s. We don’t want them to start from zero when they arrive in the Elite » adds the Fontenay player. The preparation for the international competition in Turkey could start in March with the step of the French Open League in Saint-Malo which could welcome two French teams !

All the coaches of the French teams are now known, the new era of French hockey can finally start.
