The world of hockey is grieving. The South African underwater hockey federation has announced the death of Michel Cilliers, at the age of 21.
Member of South Africa’s youth national teams since the 2017 Worlds in Hobart, he was one of the pillars of the U24 team in Sheffield last year. He would have died as a result of a car accident.
One of his team-mates in Gauteng, Liam Elferink, testifies . ‘The sport has lost a wonderful person and we all lost a good friend’.
