During the weekend between the 18-19 February, at the Pyrenees Tournament, in Toulouse (France) ,  the Spanish team decided to continue its preparation for the World Championships. This is the first time the Spanish team competes in a tournament with the group of players selected for the Worlds since the preselection in Seville. At the Pyrenees tournament, they lost in the final against Cahors/Bon Encontre, a men’s team, and finished in second place in Pool B. The Spanish women will have the opportunity to “train together during the next training camps in April in Madrid or Seville and at the Euroclubs, which will be played in Berlin this season. Then, between May and June in a pool that has not yet been determined”, reports Zaida Zurbano, player of the Spanish women’s elite selection.

These camps will be key for Angel Lopez’s team, which will try to do better than in the previous World Championships in 2018, when the Spanish women’s elite finished tenth out of thirteen in Quebec, Canada. The training sessions will give the players the opportunity to work together, in a difficult context due to “the unavailability of swimming pools and their high rental prices”, says Zaida Zurbano. The Elite Women’s team is currently looking for different teams “to play training games and prepare for the World Championship” explains the Spanish player.
